But even there some interactions become somewhat murky. Splendor, while contained to the Royal Court itself is less of an issue. For the sake of an example, if there is a future 'Laws of the Land' DLC that focuses on laws and how they shape societies and bind even the rulers, it would make sense to relate them to the cultures, but as the ownership of the Royal Court cannot be assumed, this system would have to be unrelated to culture and suffer as the result. If the Culture system is part of the DLC rather than the free patch (I am hoping its part of the free patch, but will assume the worst for the sake of this thread*), then building on top of the Culture system would be impossible. If the 'Horse Lords' DLC has a mechanic similar to the Varangian Adventures (Steppe Migration?) it would not take away from the Northern Lords. Should there be a new 'Kings of Europe' DLC that adds flavour to Catholic European monarchs then it would only add on top to the flavour the Norse already had should you follow a 'historic' path and Christianize. The Northern Lords felt good in that sense, since it added additional flavour to the Norse. I was hoping CK3 would follow a path that doesn't expose itself to the same problems, and now it seems like that might be a thing again. If I recall correctly, the Legacy of Rome DLC for CK2 introduced retinues aftewards the developers mentioned that they can't expand upon an otherwise very good feature because it was in a DLC, which not everybody would have. This is in part inspired by OneProudBavarian's video on the Royal Court.
